Semester 1 & 2
In the fall semester your child will prepare to learn to play the glockenspiel by developing his steady beat, motor skills, listening and reading skills. We?ll begin to read notes and rhythms and solidify a pitch center that will be used for the next four semesters. The children will also begin to learn about the orchestral instruments.
In the spring, we will further develop your child's instrument playing skills while developing the greatest instrument of all ? the voice! Pressure free, developmentally appropriate concepts help effectively prepare children for formal music instruction after age seven.

Semester 3 & 4
In the fall, your child will continue her musical studies with an introduction to Appalacian music (through dances, songs, and the use of the 2-string dulcimer), continue to learn more of the notes on the staff, more musical concepts and dance, play games, sing and play to multi-cultural music.
The spring semester explores multicultural music from Japan to Hawaii to Africa, just to name a few! Your child will learn basic notation concepts on his or her first wind instrument the recorder while gaining confidence and appreciation for their own musical gifts.
